Early Modern Didactic Texts in Contact

The project, carried out by a team of specialists coming from different research areas, aims to address linguistic, methodological and cultural concepts related to language learning and teaching practices in the Early Modern age, considering both European circulation among national vernaculars, as well as a centrifugal trajectory towards East Asia. Specific text types, such as grammars, dictionaries, conversation manuals, illustrated marginalia, as well as multilingual parallel texts, language teaching manuals, emblems, letters will be studied to explore interlingual, intercultural and intersemiotic exchanges.
